Dear Sir,
- I am pleased to inform your good self that Pakistani Masters Weightlifting Association has been formed in 2024 after the International Masters Weightlifting Association (IMWA) started operating independently in 2024 and has been registered in Belgium under Belgium Company law as nonprofit organization free from IWF control to serve the cause of promoting masters /retired male & female weightlifters to start healthy activities again at international events as well as in their own country ( Pakistan).
- Here in Pakistan situation was very depressing since long time because National governing body of weightlifting federation affiliated with IWF & National Olympic Committee of Pakistan did nothing for the development / promotion of masters weightlifting activities in the country totally ignoring the importance of masters weightlifter’s wellbeing and their healthy life style.
- More over Pakistan National Weightlifting Federation never encouraged master weightlifters to organize any national / regional masters weightlifting event for the welfare & well being of masters weightlifters to keep them engaged in healthy activities and to adopt a healthy life style by keeping their beloved sport of weightlifting in their routine life as they did in the past.
- Not a single event for masters at any level was held in the history of Pakistan until International Masters weightlifting Association got independence from IWF Masters Committee in 2024 and started operating with its full autonomy internationally and got registered as nonprofit autonomous body in Belgium.
- Soon after the independence of International Masters Weightlifting Association (IMWA) Pakistan Masters weightlifting Association was formed in 2024 with the support of maters men & women weightlifters nationwide under the leaderships of Mr. Arshad Khan Turk (National Gold Medalist) CEO AK group of companies and organized very successful first ever Arshad Khan Masters Weightlifting Championships at BUITEMS University Auditorium, Quetta.
- Pakistani Masters Men & Women Weightlifters retired from active lifting are very much willing/ interested to live with a healthy life style with great motivation to participate at national and international events (1st Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships 27-31 May 2025 at Doha, QATAR.
- Participation at 1st Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships 2024 will boost the morale of master weightlifter in Pakistan and a great no. of (Men & Women) Masters community will take part at our 2025 National Masters Weightlifting Championships which will be scheduled soon after successful participation at 1st Asian Masters Weightlifting Championships 27-31 May 2025 at Doha, Qatar.
- PMWLA will soon publish annual calendar of Masters weightlifting activities in Pakistan and in will invite Mohammad Kabiri (President Asian Masters Weightlifting Association (AMWA) at Pakistan National Masters (Men & Women) Weightlifting Championships 2025.
- PMWLA will also invite masters weightlifters from south Asian Countries ( India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Maldives to participate at our National Masters Weightlifting.
- Your kind support and encouragement will be highly appreciated and will go a long way in the promotion of Masters Weightlifting activities in Pakistan as well in Asian /South Asian region.
- PMWLA has engaged almost all the International/ National active master weightlifters as its affiliated members & a great no. volunteers offered their services to help in successful organization of local / provincial & National Masters Weightlifting Championships.
- Pakistan Masters Weightlifting Association (PMWLA) is an independent body comprised of all masters weightlifters & officials voluntarily to serve the purpose of encouraging master male & female weightlifters to join weightlifting activities and live a healthy life style again with meeting old friends and officials of their early age being an integral part of National Masters Weightlifting Community in the country and abroad.
- Keeping in view of the above facts Pakistan Master Weightlifters Association (PMWLA) requests Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) to grant affiliation/ recognition to enable all national masters weightlifters to get permission/ NOC from to represent their department/ province at Weightlifting championships organized by PMWLA under the leaderships of Mr. Arshad Khan Turk as President for the promotion of Masters weightlifting in Pakistan as well as in Asian and South Asian regions.

Dear Mr. Khalid Mahmood Khan,
Dear Mr. Arshan Khan Turk,
Based on the 2024 IMWA Rulebook voted in Congress the following rules apply for the fairness and inclusiveness of all Masters Weightlifters worldwide:
3 NATIONAL MASTERS COMMITTEES
- 3.1 The IMWA recognises only one Masters representative body from each country. This official Masters body does not have to be officially recognised by a National Weightlifting Federation or approved by a National Olympic Committee. Definition: A Masters representative body is an administrative structure that governs Masters events and activities in a nation in accordance with the expressed desires of the Masters in that nation, and that is subject to the authority of recognized Masters leaders in that nation. IMWA will not recognize a takeover of Masters by a national governing body that is contrary to the expressed desires of the Masters in that nation. IMWA, at its sole discretion, will deny participation in IMWA events to entries submitted by national governing bodies in violation of the expressed will of the Masters of that nation.
- 3.1.2 A National Masters Committee can be recognized in the following ways:
- 3.1.2.2When a National Weightlifting Federation does not recognize the Masters and it has been necessary to form a Masters Committee to enable national Masters to compete in International Masters championships.
- 3.1.4 The IMWA, through its Congress of Nations and its Executive Board, will be the sole judge of whether entries for IMWA events submitted by any nation are consistent with the rules regarding Masters representative bodies.
- For a National federation, Independent Masters Weightlifting Association can be very beneficial, if handled in a fair and respectful manner. The IMWA wishes both sides a hopeful mutual understanding and collaboration in the future.
- The IMWA’ main task is to embrace all genuine Masters Weightlifters worldwide.
- Best wishes,
Denise Offermann
